VACATION! Summer is here, the kids are out of school and whether you are on vacation or you are a Myrtle Beach native, finding something to do can sometimes be difficult and expensive! Myrtle Beach has an abundance of things to do but I will just name a few, inexpensive options.
- Crabbing! That's right, I said crabbing. For those who don't know what this is, it is a fun activity for the entire family. It gives you the opportunity to be outdoors by the water AND catch some crabs for dinner! All you need is a long line with a chicken leg attached to the end of it. You throw it out into the water and slowly pull the line in. You will be able to see the crabs pulling the meat off the bone but you have to be fast with the net to snag your catch! Now I'm not talking about a regular fishing hook. They make crab lines and sell them anywhere with a sporting goods section, or better yet, go to Bass Pro Shops in the mall and ask someone to grab you one. You can each have a line without having to get a fishing license. Just be sure to measure your crabs from tip to tip to be sure they are an allowable catch! For an investment of maybe $10.00, you can have a great time and an amazing dinner!
- Summerfest and Fireworks! Who doesn't love fireworks in the summer time? Barefoot Landing is just one place that offers free firework displays every Monday night at 10:15 over the lake during the summer. Take your family over to Barefoot Landing and grab a spot on one of the walkways over the water to see a spectacular light show! These displays are always beautiful and the best part is, they're free! Summerfest at Barefoot Landing also includes free nightly entertainers such as stilt walkers, jugglers, kids karaoke, magicians and clowns. On Wednesdays they have their parade with live animals and a marching band.
- Myrtle Beach has many attractions that are all worth a look! Wonderworks, Ripley's Aquarium, Hard Rock Cafe, Legends Theater, Palace Theater, Alabama Theater, Pirate's Voyage, Skywheel and so many more! You will never be left looking for something fun to do in Myrtle Beach. Let's not forget the reason that most people come to Myrtle Beach, THE BEACH! Always free and always fun!
