Moving can be stressful. South Carolina has ranked Number 3 on a list of top moving destinations of 2021, according to a new study about moving trends by United Van Lines, a national household goods mover.
In 2021, more residents moved into South Carolina than out of the state with 63% of moves being inbound. In addition to collecting data, United Van Lines conducted a survey to examine motivations and influences for people's moves across state lines. The survey found 31.8% of Americans moved to be closer to family and 32.5% moved for a new job or job transfer.
In South Carolina, retirement was the biggest reason for moving to the Palmetto State (36.56%), followed by family (28.85%) and lifestyle (23.66%), the study showed.
What can we say, people love Myrtle Beach, SC. The population is growing at higher rates than most cities and is unlikely to slow. The relatively low cost of living, wealth of things to see and do, our oceanfront location, and sense of community make Myrtle Beach more than just a big tourist draw.
